Job Summary:
The Material Handler will be responsible for performing tasks associated with shipping, receiving, inventory control, and material handling. Key duties include receiving shipments, stocking inventory, picking and packing orders, and staging products for shipment. The Material Handler will operate various equipment to move and store materials throughout the warehouse, ensuring efficient and safe warehouse operations. This role is physically demanding and requires adherence to safety protocols, attention to detail, and a commitment to productivity and quality standards.
Duties / Responsibilities:
  • Maintain quality and production standards according to company policies and procedures.
  • Operate multiple warehouse machines (e.g., pallet jack, forklift) effectively and efficiently.
  • Monitor and maintain the quality of finished products, ensuring they meet established guidelines.
  • Prepare products for movement through the warehouse, including sorting, scanning, repackaging, palletizing, labeling, and wrapping.
  • Safely operate powered equipment (e.g., forklift) to transport materials and products within the warehouse.
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks on equipment (e.g., forklifts) and report malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Pick and pack bulk and drop-ship inventory for customer orders, stage and load inventory for shipment.
  • Unload trailers, verify product accuracy against purchase orders and packing slips using Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Scan and label palletized products according to customer specifications and load onto trailers.
  • Process returns, verify warranty status, update WMS, and prepare products for disposal or return to stock.
  • Assist in training other employees and promote a clean and safe workspace.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Skills/Abilities:
 
  • Proficient in operating a pallet jack and using tools such as tape guns.
  • Basic computer skills with experience in WMS and MS Office.
  • Ability to follow written or oral instructions with a focus on detail.
  • Ability to address problems with a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong math skills for counting, basic calculations, and measurements.


Education and Experience:
 
  • Highschool Diploma required.
  • 6-12 months of related experience and or training required.
  • 2-5 years of related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Previous forklift experience required.

  • Completion and acceptable results of scheduled training

Physical and Working conditions:
  • Lifting requirements of 40 lbs.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at workstation.
  • Must be continuously alert, focused and with the ability to read safety signage, understand, detect and react to safety concerns while around or on machinery.
  • Extended periods of focused reading of mail pieces and labels.
  • Must be able to continuously stand, walk, reach, extend, bend, stoop, and squat throughout the shift.
  • Will be exposed to a loud noise environment.
  • Will be required to wear protective equipment.
  • May be exposed to dust.
  • Extended work shifts may be required due to business needs and the flexibility to work overtime and weekends are required.
