Job Summary:
Understands production and can set up and operate all Folding Equipment.  Accountable for the efficient operation of folding equipment, and the quality of finished folded products, along with participating in the specific training of other associates in the set-up and running of Folding Equipment.
Duties / Responsibilities:
•    Maintain quality and production standards across all folding equipment in accordance with company policies and procedures.
•    Thorough working knowledge inclusive of Make-ready, and Run, along with basic maintenance requirements on all folding equipment.
•    Set up, operate, and adjust folding equipment, and be able to meet established production standards regularly.
•    Must be able to operate multiple folding machines simultaneously effectively and efficiently.
•    Actively participates in the proper training of other associates in the proper setup and running of a folding machine.  
•    Observe and monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions.
•    Continually monitor the quality of the finished product per established QC guidelines.
•    Ensure the work area is free of hazards and clean of debris.
•    Follows all required safety procedures and communicates all concerns regarding safety to the department manager.
•    Complete paperwork to ensure proper job counts along with job trackability.
•    Involve Department Supervisor and Department Manager anytime concerns exist relative to quality, schedules, delays, etc.
•    Read and understand the Job “Work Order” for instructions and specifications specific to manufacturing a job. Produce all jobs according to the specifications and instructions within the Work Order. 
•    Complete production time-keeping records (Data Collection) via ePace, including logging time against the proper activity codes, quantity produced, and materials where applicable.

Other Job Functions:

•    Approve set ups and make ready of JR Operators and operators in training before the jobs get produced.
•    Perform reasonable repairs and maintenance as needed.
•    Assist in assigning work and machines when required.
•    Keep the department supervisor/manager informed of all problems or unusual matters which could impact quality, cost, and safety or employee morale.
•    Ability to interact with Client Services and customers, if required in a professional manner.
•    Work with other departments to ensure ongoing improvement of production methods and productivity.
•    Work with other departments to ensure job schedules are maintained and customer expectations are exceeded.

  • Individuals must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Must have the necessary machine skills to operate all Finishing Equipment effectively and efficiently.

  • Ability to read and understand written instructions and carry out tasks to meet instructions.
  • Requires the ability to read and interpret documents such as Job Work Orders, Safety rules, operating SOP’s, and policy manual/s.  
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization. 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in various situations.
  • Requires the ability to operate standard office machines such as computer and keyboard, FAX, photocopier, calculator, etc.
  • Be a positive role model for coworkers.
  • Skilled in use of hand trucks, pallet jacks and hand tools such as strapping and shrink-wrapping equipment, tape guns. Plastic and metal band sheers, and related equipment.
  • Read and understand graphs, charts, and spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Printstream Data Collection and displays consistency and accuracy in meeting Data Collection requirements specified by the Company.
  • Possess and demonstrate ability to cooperate with co-workers and supervisors, be quality conscious, detail oriented, reliable and a team player.   

Education and Experience:
 
  • High School diploma or GED preferred. 
  • 5 years of finishing experience and progressively increasing responsibility.  Related experience and/or training may be substituted.

Physical Requirements:
  • The employee is required to stand or sit depending on the task throughout the shift. Often required to be standing for an entire shift.
  • The employee is often required to move to different areas, and use hands to repeatedly grasp, handle, or feel. Reach with hands and arms.
  • Pull and or push stacks of products.
  • Repeatedly bend over and pick up the product.
  •  Must be able to lift and/or move 50 lbs.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles. The employee may also be exposed to electrical shock.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
